Aaron Chang Gallery Teams up with SurfAid for a solid cause

The Aaron Chang Gallery was the chosen venue for SurfAid International's fundraiser event on July 2nd. The mission of SurfAid International, a non-profit humanitarian organization, is to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. www.surfaidinternational.org

In attendance were local as well as international surfers and industry folks; key philanthropists, local business owners and of course the dynamic speaker and SurfAid medical expert, Dr. Dave Jenkins. Ralph Rubio, owner of Rubio's Restaurants and a SurfAid supporter, was in attendence and provided the food for the event. Beer was generously provided by Paul of Primo Beer. Wine was provided by Wild Rock Wineries of New Zealand.

With well over 5K in sales that evening, Aaron Chang donated 10% of all of the evening's sales to SurfAid International in addition to the individual donation support given by several of the event's attendees.

3D PHOTO FOUNTAIN DEBUT

Aaron Chang creates a 3D Photo Fountain. Partnering with metal sculptor Todd Noe, Aaron Chang Gallery presents an interactive fountain that cascades water down the face of an exotic Balinese waterfall. Within the fountain live orchids grow creating living art. Manufactured using recycled aluminum that is 90% post consumer, the inks used to print the photograph are water based and earth friendly. The 65"wide x 42" high fountain mounts on the wall. Click on photo to enlarge.

This weekend, June 26, 27 and 28th, you can see the fountain at the Dwell on Design 2009 show at the Los Angeles convention center. The fountain will be featured in the EcoFabulous/Jeffers Design Group display. For more info: ecofabulous.com

AARON CHANG PRINT SIGNING EVENT AT AZTEC GRAPHICS

It was an impressive turn out of fans and supporters of Aaron Chang's photography at the March 12 print signing event @ Aztec Graphics on Garnet Ave in San Diego. The event, hosted by owners Rick and Barbara Bailey along with their children Tim and Julia, was to benefit friendsofscott.org, a non-profit in support of children with cancer. Barbara says that the event was "a great success" and that Aaron was very well received. Aaron Chang signs prints at Aztec Graphics.

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION AND AARON CHANG PARTNER TO PHOTO WRAP CARS!

In a joint collaboration between the Surfrider Foundation, Suzuki, Surfer magazine and Aaron Chang, 2 Suzuki cars donated to Surfrider by Suzuki were wrapped with Aaron Chang Photos. A longtime supporter of the Surfrider Foundation, Aaron was stoked to be chosen for the project.

AARON CHANG GALLERY COMMISSIONED TO BUILD 24' LIGHT BOX INSTALLATION

Alex Zikakis, President of Capstone Advisors, a Carlsbad, CA based investment firm, has commissioned a 24' back lit print of the NaPali coastline print. The light box will be the largest known single panel light box in the city. Printed on a single sheet of 5' x 30' Tuff Glass plexi this will be a first of it's size for Aaron Chang Gallery. METAL PRINTS ON BRONZE

This proposal is designed for a beach theme lobby. Each 3'x4' black and white photo is printed with a bronze tone on recycled aluminum. While we can print directly on bronze metal we like the recycled aluminum for the green factor as well as the weight and cost savings.

METAL POOL MURAL

This is a proposal we sent to New York for the pool at the San Diego W hotel. This would be constructed in photo sublimated 4'x10' tiled sheets of recycled aluminum. In this mock up the ambience of the pool area is dramatically improved.

METAL PRINTING

This week a very nice couple walked into the gallery in Solana Beach. They happened to live in the neighborhood and are in the process of remodeling their home that overlooks the beach. They have a blank wall that faces south on which they wish to continue their panoramic view. I showed them a new process where a photograph can be printed on a 4'x6' sheet of metal. They liked this process very much so I mocked up these proposals for them with a photo that just happens to have been shot on the beach directly in front of their house. This photo taken was just last week. When I was shooting it I was thinking that I should perhaps be somewhere else. As it turns out there are no coincidences.

Our friends, the Grayson's, first discovered my photography through Aaron Chang swimwear. Mrs. Grayson had fallen in love with our Tres Palmas bikini which featured the top photo of the famous Puerto Rico surf spot. The story goes that they loved the photo so much that they decided to style their new custom home using the roof lines of the house in the Tres Palmas photo on the swimsuit. As the house was being finished they called me to order a 10' print for the house. It was planned to be in a hardwood frame on pulleys and used as a panel between the kitchen and dining room. I asked if we could make it a two sided print to give the dining room it's own identity. They agreed and what you see is the result.
